Homeopathy

A Simple Explanation

Homeopathy is a way of healing that focuses on treating the whole person, not just the illness. It believes that our bodies have an amazing ability to heal themselves, and homeopathy helps to boost this natural healing power.
How does it work?

Homeopathy was developed in the late 18th century by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician. He introduced the principle of “like cures like”—the idea that a substance causing symptoms in a healthy person can, in a minute dose, treat similar symptoms in someone unwell, this gives rise to the minus dose where very few doses are required in order to see great change.

The practice is over 200 years old (founded in 1796) and has since spread globally, becoming especially popular in America, Europe, South Asia, and parts of Africa. It is recognized in several healthcare systems, including India’s national health service (AYUSH), and remains widely practiced today.

  • Mahatma Gandhi praised it as “a safe and economical system of medicine.”

  • Charles Darwin, the naturalist, reportedly used homeopathic treatments during his travels.

  • Members of the British Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth II, were long known to support and use homeopathy.

  • David Beckham, the footballer, has publicly mentioned using homeopathic remedies.
